What is Water Purification?
Water purification generally means freeing water from any kind of impurity such as contaminants or micro organisms. Water purification is not a very one-sided process; the purification process contains many steps. The steps that need to be progressed depend on the kind of impurities that are found in the water. This can differ very much for different types of water.
Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemical and biological contaminants from raw water. The goal is to produce water for human consumption (drinking water). In general the methods used include physical process such as filtration biological processes such as activated carbon filter, reduction of harmful dissolved salts by Reverse Osmosis method and the use of electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet light.
Water purification, or drinking water treatment, is the process of removing contaminants from surface water or groundwater to make it safe and potable for human consumption. A wide variety of technologies may be used, depending on the raw water source, contaminants present, standards to be met, and available finances.
The purification process of water may reduce the concentration of particulate matter including suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi; and a range of dissolved and particulate material derived from the minerals that water may have made contacted after falling as rain.
Why pure water is Important?
Water makes up more than two thirds of the weight of the human body, and without it, humans would die in a few days. The human brain is made up of 95% water; blood is 82% and lungs 90%. A mere 2% drop in our body water supply can trigger signs of dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on smaller print, such as a computer screen. Are you having trouble reading this? (Drink up!).
Why pure water is important for HUMAN BODY?
• Pure water is important to the mechanics of the human body. The body cannot work without it, just as a car cannot run without gas and oil. In fact, all the cell and organ functions made up in our entire anatomy and physiology depend on water for their functioning.
• Pure water serves as a lubricant
• Pure water forms the base for saliva
• Pure water forms the fluids that surround the joints.
• Pure water regulates the body temperature, as the cooling and heating is distributed through perspiration.
• Pure water helps to alleviate constipation by moving food through the intestinal tract and thereby eliminating waste- the best detox agent.
• Pure water regulates metabolism.
How pure water can prevent diseases?
In addition to the daily maintenance of our bodies, water also plays a key role in the prevention of disease. Drinking eight glasses of water daily can decrease the risk of colon cancer by 45%, bladder cancer by 50% and it can potentially even reduce the risk of breast cancer.
What precisely is Pure Water?
It is almost impossible to find a source of pure water that will meet basic requirements for a public water supply without requiring some form of treatment. In general, the requirements for a pure water supply may be considered as follows:
• That it shall contain no disease-producing organisms.
• That it be colorless and clear.
• That it be good-tasting, free from odours and preferably cool.
• That it be non-corrosive.
• That it be free from objectionable gases, such as Hydrogen Sulfide, and objectionable staining minerals, such as Iron and Manganese.
• That it be plentiful and low in cost.
While the presence of coliform bacteria and toxic chemical content in a water supply would cause a water to be classified as unsafe to drink, other factors such as taste, odor, color and mineral content have a certain aesthetic effect - which can cause a water to be rejected as a usable supply. Potable, or safe water, is not necessarily usable or useful for many purposes. For this reason it may require treatment of another sort to render it useful to the needs of the home or industry. This is where water purification becomes important and necessary.
Water quality: How is RO water compared to bottled water?
Just as good or even better. We use the same technology, reverse osmosis (RO), as other major bottling plants use to filter water. Our drinking water has a sweet taste with a touch of minerals —not like the flat taste of distilled or bottled water. The seven-stage system is the most stable and complete RO process. The best part is that you maintain your system and ensure your family's health yourself.
How effective is Reverse Osmosis filtration compared to other methods?
RO is the most convenient and effective method of water filtration. It filters water by squeezing water through a semi-permeable membrane, which is rated at 0.0001 micron (equals to 0.00000004 inch!). This is the technology used to make bottled water; it is also the only technology capable of desalinating sea water, making it into drinking water.
Non-RO water filters are much less effective, and the pore size on these filter media are much bigger, generally 0.5 - 10 micron. They can filter out coarse particles, sediments and elements only up to their micron rating. Anything finer and most dissolved substances cannot be filtered out. As a result, water is far less clean and safe compare to reverse osmosis filtration.
